RaToya Gilmer McGee was born and raised in Edwards, MS and still currently resides there with her husband Levorn McGee Jr. and their daughter Skylar. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Tougaloo College.
RaToya graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in May 2013. She was admitted to practice law in Mississippi in September 2013.
While in law school she was able to enhance her love for giving back to the community. She dedicated her law school experience to working for indigent and underrepresented individuals. The same is true for her legal career. She has planned and participated in several expungement clinics, serves as a volunteer attorney or Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers’ Project (MVLP) and is a Past Chair for MVLP’s Board of Directors.
RaToya extends her love for law and service to every organization she is a member. She is currently a member of Mississippi Bar Association (2018 Leadership Forum Class and Chair of Women in Profession Section), Mississippi Association to Justice (Past Diversity Committee Chair), Mississippi Women Lawyers’ Association (Past Community Service Chair), the Metro Jackson Black Women Lawyer’s Association and a member of the 33rd Class of Leadership Greater Jackson.
She is a Past President of the Magnolia Bar Association where she also served the organization as Community Service Committee Co-chair. Her dedication to service has not gone unnoticed as she
received the Magnolia Bar Association’s Alfred Rhodes Service Award for her work and dedication to the Magnolia Bar Association.
During her law career, RaToya was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Services in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding volunteer service to the people of Mississippi.
